Our Story

Our story started as a personal journey -- a longing to reconnect to who I truly am after living abroad for more than a decade and welcoming one of the most joyful yet the toughest phases of my life, motherhood. It was a cross road that was filled with questions, most times confusion. But I realised after a journey back home that self-rediscovery is not just through stories or memories, but through something tangible, something alive.
I found this connection in the intricate patterns and textures of handwoven pieces — each carrying the rhythm, history, and quiet strength of my culture. What began as a personal journey of rediscovery slowly transformed into something deeper: to share this beauty, this heritage, this tradition using natural materials abundantly available in my region.
But as I dug deeper, I knew that this story wasn’t just mine. It belonged to the artisans, the communities, and the people whose hands and hearts sustain these traditions. Through yumi, I have the privilege of working with social enterprises across the Philippines — people who are reimagining what sustainability and craftsmanship can look like when guided by purpose and respect.
Today, yumi is more than a brand. It’s a bridge between cultures, a celebration of handmade artistry, and a promise to honour where we come from while shaping a more mindful future.
Every weave tells a story — of heritage, of resilience, and of finding one’s way home.
Our bespoke pieces are designed in Austria and each was handmade in the Philippines. We encourage you to slow down, discover and enjoy the beauty of every piece, each designed with you in mind.
Yours, Majoy
